Obituary of Virginia Deloney

Mrs. Mary Virginia "Ginger" McCord Deloney, age 64, of the Brown's Crossroads Community of Ozark, died Tuesday morning, December 6, 2011. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Friday, December 9, 2011, from Bethel United Methodist Church with Reverend Danny Gilroy and Reverend Dr. Billy D. Gaither officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Thursday.
Mrs. Deloney was born March 13, 1947 in Dothan, Alabama, lived in Auburndale, Florida during her childhood, and graduated from high school there. She moved to Dothan in 1965 where she met her husband, Leslie. They have made their home in the Brown's Crossroads Community since their marriage. Mrs. Deloney worked with CenturyTel until her retirement in 2007. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where she was a member and past President of The United Methodist Women. She was on the District United Methodist Women Council, and served her church in other capacities faithfully. She was preceded in death by her father, Grady Floyd McCord, and one grandchild, Jordan Long.
Survivors include her husband, Harvey Leslie "Chuck" Deloney of Ozark;
one daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Raymond Walters of Valley, Alabama;
one son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Jamie Deloney of Ozark;
her mother, Mary Frances Hughes McCord of Lakeland, Florida;
one sister, Emma Jones of Lakeland, Florida;
two step-grandsons, Brandon Walters and Cameron Walters.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Janet Brooks, 7300 East County Road 36, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
