Obituary of Verlie Lee Sutton Hartzog

Mrs. Verlie Sutton Hartzog, 79, of Ariton, died Thursday afternoon, June 9, 2011 in Dale Medical Center following a brief illness. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 11, 2011 from Elam Baptist Church with the Reverend Joe Underwood and Reverend George Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from 5:00 P.M.until 7:00 P.M. Friday evening. Mrs. Hartzog was born May 18, 1932 to the late Vernie Lee and Lois Brown Sutton in Barbour County, Alabama. She worked with White Knight Manufacturing and with Peoples Bank of Clio for 27 years until her retirement. She was a member of Elam Baptist Church where she served as choir director and song leader, Sunday school teacher, church treasurer and WMU for many years. Survivors include her husband Kenneth D. Hartzog, Ariton; daughter, Pamela Bennett (Gary), Dothan; sons, Dr. Delton Hartzog (Patricia), Gadsden, Dr. Danny Hartzog (Emily), Clayton, Joe Hartzog (Mildred), Mobile; grandchildren, Alyson Bennett, Abby and Elijah Roberts, Heath and Bethany Hartzog, Stephanie and Jimmy Honeycutt, Shea Hartzog, Hollen and Stuart Smith, Angela and Preston Mitchell, Carrie Hartzog, and Patrick Walton; brother, Jivis Sutton, Ariton.
