Eva Lee Stokes Clark Jackson, a longtime resident of Ozark, passed away Friday, May 27, 2011 at Dale Medical Center following a brief illness. She was 89. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the Ozark Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Hix officiating. Private interment services will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery with Holman Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Monday, May 30, 2011. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief, P.O. Box 4002018, Des Moines, IA 50340-2018 or online at www.redcross.org. Eva was born in Dale County, March 4, 1922, and lived her early life in the Haw Ridge Community. She graduated from Moody Hospital School of Nursing in 1944 . After finishing nursing school, she worked with Dr. A. D. Matthews and did private duty nursing at Dale County Hospital as well as in patients' homes. Later she became the first school health nurse with the Ozark City Schools and retired after 13 years. She loved her nursing career, her many patients and her friends she made during her school years. She was a longtime member of the Ozark Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee and Emma Ziglar Stokes, her husbands, John D. Clark and Berman A. Jackson, a granddaughter, Shelley Payne, five sisters and two brothers. Survivors include four children, Jane Clark Taylor, Jenny Clark Richie (Rodney), Jan Jackson Robertson (Dale), and Charles B. "Buddy" Jackson (Mary); seven grandchildren, Major (USMC) David W. Kummer, Jr. (Melissa), LeeAnne Kummer Maund (Bert), Michelle Richie Vairo (Joe), Melisa Richie, Ryan Payne, Adrian Payne Zebot (Ryan), and Chase Jackson; ten great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other family members and many friends.
