Mrs. Carolyn Amanda Brown Burkett, a resident of Ozark, died Thursday, March 28, 2019, in Ozark Health and Rehabilitation Center.  She was eighty-four years old.

Funeral services for Mrs. Burkett will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 31, 2019, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Charles Goldsmith and Reverend Kenneth Preston officiating. Interment will Follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in the Longstreet Community, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.   The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Sunday one hour prior to service time.

Carolyn was born October 8, 1934 in Dale County, Alabama to the late Lowell LaFayette Brown and Emily Ruth Hornsby Brown. She graduated from Dale County High School. Mrs. Burkett worked with Brown Real Estate, Tyler Edwards Office Supply and in the office of Dr. Robert McLaughlin.  She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.  She enjoyed reading, doing needlepoint, and working in her yards.  She loved and cherished her grandsons.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,  Raygene Marlin Burkett; one sister, Mary Brown Mammoser; and  three brothers-in-law, Sam Holland, Russell Bishop and James L. Mammoser.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Ashley Childers of Skipperville; one son, Michael G. “Mickey” Burkett of Ozark; two grandsons, Mason B. Childers and Marshall R. Childers; two sisters, Myra Holland and Tamara Bishop of Trussville, Alabama. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
