Obituary of Joseph Ronald "Ronnie" Welch

It is with great sadness that Joseph Ronald “Ronnie” Welch passed away after a short illness on Saturday, May 4, 2019. He was 67 years old.

Funeral services for Mr. Welch will be held graveside 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 11, 2019, from Concord Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery with his nephew, Phil Kirkland officiating.  Interment will follow, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing.  There will be a Celebration of Life for Ronnie following the graveside service Saturday in Concord Congregational Methodist Church.

Mr. Welch was born June 19, 1951 in Dale County, Alabama to the late Joseph M. and Inez Thompson Welch. He was a member of Carroll High School class of 1969  and earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Alabama.  Ronnie was a huge Alabama fan and loved college football Saturdays.  He never met a stranger and was generous and kind to all.  He will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father and friend who always wore a kind smile.  He retired from Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center in Dothan.

Ronnie is survived by his loving wife, Georgianne Oppert Welch; his daughter, Anna Kate Phillips, her husband Ashley and their five children; his three step-children, Christina Boyd, her husband James and their three children, Leslie Glass, her husband Heath and their three children, Chelsea Nelson, her husband Travis and their two children.  He is also survived by his six siblings and many beloved extended family members.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center, R.E.A.L.
