Obituary of Maria Rosa Boyles

Mrs. Maria Rosa Giordana Boyles passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, July 28, 2019.

A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Boyles will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 1, 2019, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Tyler Perry officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark one hour prior to service time.

Mrs. Boyles was born January 4, 1944. She met her husband, Donald Boyles, in Germany while he was serving in the United States Army.  They moved to Alabama in September 1978 due to being stationed at Fort Rucker.  She retired with the Ozark City School System after many years preparing lunches for the children that she called “her babies”.  After retirement, she developed a deep passion for bingo and enjoyed countless hours socializing at Aviators Landing.  Maria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend who will be sadly missed.

Surviving relatives include her husband of 50 years, E7 SGT First Class-Flight Engineer Donald Boyles (United States Army, Retired) of Ozark; two daughters, Dawn Tipton of Ozark and Sherry Boyles Edwards (Scott) of Montgomery; three grandchildren, Shane Bustch (Rachael), Matthew Tipton, Schylur Edwards; great granddaughter, Rosalie Bustch; two special grand-girls adopted with love, Caitlin Garrett and Sydney Parris.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandy McKinney, three  sisters of Italy, and three brothers who were infants in Italy.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the staff of DaySpring Hospice for all the love and care given to Mrs. Boyles during her illness.  A special thank you to her three angel nurses, Roxanne, Tonya, and Kirsten.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to DaySpring Hospice, 3160 West Main Street, Suite 1, Dothan, Alabama 36305.
