Mr. William Homer “Bill” Dawkins, 81, of Ariton, died Monday evening, September 16, 2019, in Southeast Health Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 19, 2019, from Elam Baptist Church with Reverend Danny Branch and Reverend Joe Underwood officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Thursday morning at the church from 9:30 A.M. until service time.

Mr. Dawkins was born July 23, 1938 in Linwood, Alabama (Pike County) to the late Joe Cephus Dawkins and Nellie Glen Price Dawkins. Mr. Dawkins served in the United States Army from 1957 until 1959.   He worked with Civil Service in Albany, Georgia as a Supervisor until his retirement at age fifty-five.  Mr. Dawkins enjoyed fishing, hunting, and other outdoor activities.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, June Marie Szmanski Dawkins; one granddaughter, Tara Marie Senn; and three brothers, Joe Dawkins, Bobby Dawkins and Dan Dawkins.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Tammie and Jody Senn of Ariton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Pam Dawkins of Ariton, Tony and Teresa Dawkins of Susan Moore, Alabama; Tommy and Debbie Dawkins of Ariton; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Elam Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Mrs. Tonita Dawkins, 105 Wyman Street, Enterprise, Alabama 36330.
