Obituary of Evelyn Elmore
Mrs. Evelyn Holloway Elmore, a life-long resident of Ozark, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, September 22, 2019, passing peacefully in her sleep. Her birthday was Saturday, she was 89 years old. Evelyn Holloway Elmore trusted Jesus as her Savior and was baptized in the 60's.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 26, 2019, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Jim Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Midland City Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark one hour prior to service time.
Mrs. Elmore was born September 21, 1930 in Dale County, Alabama to the late James and Myrtie Gayles Holloway. Evelyn lived most of her life in Ozark and worked at the Dairy King over 30 years; she loved working there with the Powell family. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Ozark. Evelyn was blessed with a large family and many friends. People were drawn to her sweet spirit and great sense of humor. It seems that she and all her sisters were always laughing about something.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Larry Edward Newman and Ricky Charles Newman; one grandson, Robert Newman; one brother, James Webster (J.W.) Holloway, and two sisters, Betty Holloway Dunn and Jeannette Holloway Russitano.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Eugene Newman (Debbie) of Livonia, Michigan and Ronald Millard Newman (Linda) of Trenton, Michigan; five grandchildren, Rebecca Worden (Bob), Kenny Newman, Paul Newman, Rick Newman and Johnny Newman; seven great children; and five sisters, Margaret Watson, Carol Routledge, Patricia Ross, Elaine Putnam (Lelan) and Brenda Holloway.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 246 Church Street, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
