Petty Officer First Class, Arthur David Barron, (United States Navy, Retired), a resident of Pace, Florida and formerly of Ozark, left this world on Saturday, January 18, 2020. He was 95 years old. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 22, 2020, from Newton Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Hill and Reverend Bobby Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery (1927 County Road 7708, Troy, Alabama 36081) with Full Military Honors, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Petty Officer Barron was born November 7, 1924 in Troy, Alabama to the late Jesse James Barron and Lou Eva Livingston Barron. David served in the United States Navy for 22 years. He retired from Whiting Field in Milton, Florida. Following his military service, he worked for a short time as the photographer for The Press Gazette and was the Photo Lab Manager at Fort Rucker, Alabama until his retirement. He attended Newton Baptist Church where was ordained as a Deacon and also attended Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Ozark. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby “Boot” Rolling and Jesse “Pete” Heath; and two brothers, James Glen Barron and Herman Edward “Jabbo” Barron. David is survived by his devoted wife of 73 years, Delia “Dee” Rock Barron; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and John Ruffner and Nancy and Frank Lay, all of Pace, Florida; six grandchildren, Tracey Lewis (Randy Lewis) of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Dr. Kristopher Lay (Simone Lay) of Birmingham, Alabama, Paige Larkin (Ben Larkin) of Birmingham, Alabama, Kace Browning (Brent Browning) of Milton, Florida, Kara Clark (Steve Clark) of Pace, Florida, Klinton Lay (Lindsey Lay) of Pace, Florida. Seventeen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
