Mrs. Evelyn Mercer Petty Chapman, a resident of Pinckard, died Saturday, May 9, 2020, at her home. She was 79 years old.
Funeral services will be graveside 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 12, 2020, in Pinckard Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Paul McVay officiating. Interment will follow, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing.
Mrs. Chapman was born September 26, 1940 in Houston County, Alabama to the late Harley Frank Petty and Opal Mercer Petty. She worked as the Bookstore Manager at Wallace Community College for 25 years. Mrs. Chapman enjoyed working in her flower beds and taking care of her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Elinor Clements.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, James Richard Chapman of Pinckard; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and Donnie Turner of Pinckard, Lynda and Jerry Fulford of Newton; two sisters, Madge Alley of Wicksburg and Ann Trice of Dothan; six grandchildren, Chris Hartzog, Natalie West, Paige Culp, Heather Prickett, Stephanie Jackson, Ashley Gordon. Eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild also survive.
