Mr. Curtis Bernard Goodson, a resident of Ozark, died Thursday, July 30, 2020. He was 85 years old. Funeral services for Mr. Goodson will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 2, 2020, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Bradley Chamblee and Reverend David Parrish officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Sunday from 12:30 P.M. until service time. Mr. Goodson was born February 28, 1935 in Ozark, Alabama to the late Macon Berry Goodson and Essie Davis Goodson. He served in the Alabama National Guard, Ozark 131st Tank Battalion which was mobilized to Fort Erwin, California. Curt’s first job out of high school was running the projector at the Brackin Theater in Ozark. He also worked with Van Heusen Manufacturing Company as a sewing machine mechanic where he met and married Anita Shehane. He obtained his A and P License and worked at Fort Rucker as a helicopter mechanic for 19 years. In 1971 he and Anita opened their personal fabric business (The Knit Shop) behind their home, which transitioned to the women’s ready-to-wear clothing store located in downtown Ozark (Goodson’s Union Station). That store later moved onto Highway 231 and closed in 1998 upon their retirement. Mr. Goodson enjoyed yard work, tinkering with lawnmowers and his 1966 Chevrolet pickup truck. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Grant (Wayne) and Voncile Pelnarsch. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Anita Shehane Goodson of Ozark; one daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Mark Craddock of Warner Robins, Georgia; one grandson, Mark David Craddock, Jr.; and one sister, Betty Cuti of Norca, Louisiana.
