Mr. Samuel Thomas “Sam” DeRamus, Sr, 63, a resident of the Bertha Community of Dale County, died Wednesday evening, August 12, 2020, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. DeRamus will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 18, 2020, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Melvin Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in Union Presbyterian Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home in Ozark from 1:30 P.M. until service time. Mr. DeRamus was born January 3, 1957 in Montgomery, Alabama to the late Mitt Isaiah DeRamus and Susie Pearl Chavers DeRamus. He had lived in Prattville, Midland City and Ozark. Mr. DeRamus was a diesel and automotive mechanic who could fix anything. He also was a truck driver. Sam was an accomplished musician in string, piano, organ, and steel guitar. For the last five years he had been playing at the “Gathering Place” in Ozark. Survivors include his wife, Terri DeRamus of the Bertha Community; two daughters, Whitney Hobbs (Phillip) of Cottonwood and Cynthia DeRamus of Birmingham; three sons, Samuel Thomas DeRamus, Jr. of Millbrook, Patrick Allen DeRamus and Christopher Lee DeRamus both of Montgomery; three sisters, Sylvia Ann Wood of Robertsdale, Melissa Sue Bower (John) of Pensacola, and Sherri Ann Damron (Trevor) of Marbury; four brothers, Mitt Isaiah DeRamus, Jr. (Sara) of Comanche, Texas, Patrick DeRamus (Bobbie Jo) of Andalusia, Claud A. DeRamus (Andrea) of Castlewood, Virginia, and David Isaiah DeRamus of Deatsville. Eleven grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
