Obituary of Glenda Short Chisum

Mrs. Glenda Millicent Short Chisum, 84, of the Ewell Community, went to be with the Lord Friday, October 2, 2020, at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 6, 2020, from Chalkhead Baptist Church with Reverend Michael Woodham officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Monday at the funeral home in Ozark from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P.M. Mrs. Chisum was born November 30, 1935 in Covington County, Alabama to the late Arthur Byrd Short and Leslie Mack Short. She worked with Giles and Girdner Insurance Agency as an Insurance Clerk while she and her family lived in Pensacola, Florida. They moved to Ozark in 1995 where she was a member of Chalkhead Baptist Church. She enjoyed the fellowship with the ladies in the Church. Mrs. Chisum loved the outdoors and enjoyed going fishing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Greg Chisum; and one brother, Jay Thompson. Survivors include her loving husband of 67 years, Gene Lenford Chisum; two sons, Joel Chisum (Michele) and Mark Chisum; one daughter, Sandra Dykes (John); grandchildren, Maleah Hill (Mike), Brad Chisum (Melissa), Sonya Chance (Kevin), Brandi Whitley, and Steel Jackson; granddaughter-in-law, Heather Chisum; great grandchildren, Madison Hill, Mallory Chisum, Cade Holbrook, Mackenzie Belcher (Bryan), Nathan Hill, Drew Chance, Camden Chisum and Caleb Chisum. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her memory to Chalkhead Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 495 County Road 35, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
