Obituary of Robert Edward Woodham

Mr. Robert Edward Woodham, a resident of Ozark, died Sunday, November 28, 2021. He was 82 years old. Funeral services for Mr. Woodham will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 1, 2021, from Southside Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Bates and Reverend Kenneth Hale officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in the church Wednesday from 12:30 P.M. until service time. Serving as pallbearers will be John Keith McCall, Justin McCall, Josh Fisher, Ethan Fisher, Trey Burg and Tony Burg. Mr. Woodham was born September 21, 1939 in the Echo Community of Dale County, Alabama to the late Herbert Edward Woodham and Dorothy Grace Grantham Woodham. He attended Troy University where he received his Masters in Education Degree. He was the Principal of South Dale Junior High School for twenty-six years, retiring in 1997. He was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church and the Gideons where he served in various offices. Mr. Woodham enjoyed farming and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Joe Monk; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Calvin and Pearl Newsome; sisters-in-law, Louise Outlaw, Imogene Marshall, Virginia Johnson and Betty Newsome; brothers-in-law, Ray Preston, Rudolph Outlaw, James Marshall, Pete Murray, Harold Newsome and Haley Newsome. Survivors include his wife, Elaine Newsome Woodham of Ozark; two daughters, Stephanie McCall (John Mike) of Troy and Jennifer Woodham of Birmingham; two grandsons, John Keith McCall (Porsche) of Troy, Justin McCall (Michaela) of Lawton, Oklahoma; two great grandsons, John David McCall and Jackson Edward McCall both of Troy; two sisters, Vivian Preston of Ozark and Sue Fisher (David) of Echo; four sisters-in-law, Margaret Smith (Bob) of Orlando, Florida, June Murray of Dothan and, Judy Burg (Charlie) of Ozark. Many nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Gideons International, P. O. Box 291, Ozark, Alabama 36361.
