My Uncle Durwood and I shared 80 years together in this world, and though we have had little shared time in more recent years, my memories of him are strong. My mother Kathleen’s youngest sibling, growing up he was more like my big brother. I will never forget his kindness to me, especially during his busy high school years, and I treasure memories of playing catch and all that revolved around his success in sports, and especially our shared love of baseball. I will miss him. I cannot be with you all just now but I send blessings and much love to his entire family. Thomas Leatherwood

What a pleasure it has been over my lifetime to know and be around Durwood. He always made you feel special and that he was interested in what you did. He was very much of a gentlemen with all our southern qualities. He will be missed by many people in our area. We know he is resting with his family that has gone before him with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We hope each one of the family can be comforted through your faith.
