Obituary of Tammy Tharpe Stevens

Mrs. Tammy Tharpe Stevens, of Ozark, formerly of Blue Springs, passed away, Monday evening, September 12, 2022. She was 52. Funeral services for Mrs. Stevens will be 3:00 P.M. Thursday, September 15, 2022, from Anderson Baptist Church in Clio with Reverend Bill Hovey officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Mrs. Stevens was born April 21, 1970 in Dale County, Alabama to the late James Webster Tharpe and Barbara Lanett Parmer Tharpe. Mrs. Stevens graduated Louisville High School in 1988 and received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Troy University at Dothan, a Master’s Degree and Education Specialist Degree in Special Ed at the University of West Alabama. She was a dedicated teacher for over twenty years. Mrs. Stevens worked six years with the Dale County Extension Service, instructing in the Family and Child Development/Nutrition and Health. She worked three years as a Special Education Instructor at Vivian B. Adams in Ozark and ten years as a Special Education Instructor at Zion Chapel in Jack, Alabama. Mrs. Stevens worked the last four years as a Special Education Instructor at J. F. Shields in Beatrice, Alabama. Survivors include two sons, Tad Dunlap (Brooke) and Trey Stevens all of Ozark; two step-children, Tiffany McLeod (Preston) of Ozark and Tyler Griffin of Georgia; two sisters, Loretta Lowery (Ricky) of Ozark and Tiffany Tharpe of Blue Springs; two grandchildren, Lakyn Dunlap and Judson Dunlap; three step-grandchildren, Taleik McLeod, Tiara McLeod and Takoda McLeod. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Autism Speaks, 1060 State Road, Second Floor, Princeton, New Jersey 08540.
