How very sad it is to know that the last member of this close net John Abe and Bertha Trawick Garner family is gone! Such wonderful memories of Papa and Grandmother, Aunt Bea, Uncle Ralph and Uncle Jr., Mother, and Uncle Dick (as I knew him in my childhood) I cannot begin to tell. However, in my mind's eye, I can recall them quiet vividly.
Some of my fondest memories were when Uncle Trawick and Aunt Betty would come to our farmhouse on Dewey Ivey Road in Barbour County, on Sunday afternoons to visit. Many times, I have thought those visits were often a reprieve for them plus for Daddy and Mother. Later in life, I understood those visits provided a small respite to them, for during those time, Paul, Kathleen, Sandy, (Sherri wasn't born yet), Naaman, Jeanette, Reba, and I could "ware each other out" playing together in the sand bed front yard, or even under the highly foundationed house. (I even taught Cathy and Sandy how to cut their own hair!)
I have a regret that I never asked Uncle Dick to forgive me for. As I child, I could not tolerate the smell of "Roastners", which was fresh cream corn, slathered in butter and backed to golden brown. He proceeded to make me eat some at one Family Reunion, and I bit him. Please, forgive me Uncle Dick for biting you, but I told you I didn't like it!
In my adult years, I came to realize what a fantastic person my Uncle Trawick was. He had such a mathematical mind! I was tickled when I learned of his fascination with puzzles.
Yes, he was always a treasured Uncle, but the Love, Respect, and Gratitude for him and Aunt Betty grew exponentially during the many visits they shared with my dear Mother in her long illness. I am so Blessed, to have known this wonderful man!
So, the last of the members in the photo is gone. Yet, reunited in Heaven, they are free from All PAIN, and SUFFERINGS, abiding Forever with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. For that, dear Aunt Betty, Paul, Cathy, Sandy, Sherri, and everyone else in OUR FAMILY, we can take comfort. I Love You All.

Little children often describe adults as being tall. Among my cherished early memories at the Garner farm were the times Uncle Trawick would stop by the big oak tree to give me a push in the long rope swing he had made for the children’s pleasure. His tall push sending me into the sky gave me thrills equivalent to any amusement ride I’ve had. At that time, he was among the tallest people I knew - perhaps he was a giant. As time passed, I learned indeed he was a giant. Aunt Betty and Uncle Trawick made numerous visits with Mother and me during the last three years of her life. The visits meant so much to mother and I was privileged to know my super tall “giant uncle” in a new light.
Aunt Betty, Paul, Lana, Kat, Sandy, Charles, Sherry, grandchildren, and great-grand children, I pray you will find comfort and peace as we morn the passing of one of the tallest men we’ve known. I love you all, too.

What a great friend Trawick was over the years. He was a great friend to all the farmers and rural residents that her served over his many years with Pea River Electric keeping their farms electrified for their comfort and efficiency of their farming operations I know he is resting in peace with our Heavenly Father our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I know Betty, Kathleen, Sheri, Sandy and Paul will find your comfort through your faith. We thank God for the life of Trawick Garner..
