Obituary of Ann King Hughes
Ann Hughes left us for Jesus on January 15, 2023, after a brief illness. She was 85.
Please help us honor and remember Ann. A viewing will be held at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, January 20, 2023, from Ozark Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Eric Fuller officiating. Interment will follow in Skipperville Community Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
Ann leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion and charity that will be carried on by her two daughters and one son-in-law, Tracy Hughes and Maryann and A. C. Ward, her son and daughter-in-law, David and Lisa Hughes; and her grandchildren, Madison Hughes, Kennedy Hughes, Emry Crews. Ann was the youngest child of Dan Mixon King and Mary Ruth Dykes King. She is preceded in death by her husband and best friend Uriel Marcus Hughes and her siblings Katherine Richardson and Dan King.
Ann lived a life devoted to the service of others and worked faithfully to answer any call to help people in need. She served as the Assistant Director of the Dale County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program helping seniors fill service opportunities with schools, daycare centers, police departments, hospitals and other service organizations meet critical community needs as well as service as a Red Cross volunteer.
She served as Worthy Matron for Kolb Chapter 468 of the Order of the Eastern Star as well as Mother Advisor to the Ozark Assembly of International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. Ann’s love for children was limitless and she loved working as a Sunday School teacher for preschoolers, GA teacher, and faithful Vacation Bible School missions teacher for many summers at the Ozark Baptist Church. Through her works she touched the lives of countless people. She truly lived a life to remember.
