Mrs. Louise Mitchell Farish, a resident of Ozark passed peacefully Thursday March 9, 2023, at Oakview Manor Nursing Facility. She was 88 years old. Funeral services for Mrs. Farish will be 11:00 AM Saturday, March 18, 2023, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Chaplain (Captain) Joseph Dyer of the Fort Rucker Chaplain Office officiating. Interment will follow at 10:30 AM (central standard time) Monday March 20, 2023, at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery in Fort Mitchell, Alabama with Chaplain Adam Mulliner officiating and Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Saturday at the funeral home in Ozark from 10:00 AM until service time. Louise was born May 6, 1934, in Ozark, Alabama to the late Florence America Chauncey Mitchell and Ewell Lee Mitchell, Sr. She attended Dale County High School and graduated in 1952. She continued her studies at Wallace College and went on to work at Fort Rucker as an administrator before she met the love of her life, Stephen Farish, Lt. Col. US Army, Retired. Louise and Stephen lived a beautiful love story for 50 years prior to his passing in 2006. Louise still thought of PaPa daily. They shared a love for bird watching and this gave Mrs. Farish great comfort in her later years as she watched her beloved cardinals and remembered PaPa saying he would come to visit her as “Mr. Red”. Louise was a devoted Army Aviator’s wife who traveled the world supporting her husband in France, Germany and throughout the United States. She was a mentor and encouragement to the wives of the men who served with Stephen. Louise courageously raised their three sons as Stephen served three tours in Vietnam. Louise was also a successful antiques dealer and known to many as “The Christmas Lady” for her extensive collection of Christmas décor. She was featured several times on national television with “Lynette Jennings Design” on The Discovery Channel. She was a Christian, an avid gardener, the consummate hostess, wonderful southern cook, nature lover, devoted mother, loving wife, and friend to many. Louise is survived by three sons, Robert (Regina) Farish of Kona, Hawaii, John (Joyce) Farish of Dothan, and Charles Farish of Newton; one granddaughter, Jennifer (Jack) Farish Sims and one great granddaughter, Annie James Sims; three grandsons, Jesse Kelley, Ben Farish, and Jon Farish, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Louise was loved and cared for devotedly for many years by Mattie McMullen and Marilyn Foster, as well as many others. These resilient ladies were her sunshine, support, and a true blessing to the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Community Hospice of Dale Medical Center who blessed Mrs. Farish with their amazing grace and compassion during the last months of her life.
