Please share a memory of Carmen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that on April 5, 2023, we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Carmen McLaney of Ozark, Alabama. She was 71 years old. Funeral services for Ms. McLaney will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 12, 2023, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Father Chris Boutin officiating, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark from 10:00 A.M. until service time. She was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Alabama in 1993 where she loved the sunshine and the warm weather. Carmen enjoyed planting her flowers and growing her little garden. She had an absolute love for the Alabama Crimson Tide and enjoyed watching wrestling. She was just a simple person with a simple life and will be missed terribly by all who loved her. Carmen is survived by her three daughters, Ramona Gomez, Maria Wright, Yolanda Godfrey; and longtime partner, Richard Bell. She is also survived by her sister, Maria Yournet of New York; and her brother, Abundio (Mike) Gomez of Ozark, Alabama. She is survived by ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her late husband, John McLaney; her parents, Abundio and Pasqualina Gomez; an infant daughter, Mary; and great grandson, Jasper.
