Dr. Smith was such a sweet man! He always made me feel pretty and special! He will be missed by all who knew him. He always had a big smile and a hug when I saw him! It was always fun if I saw him at Bama games! I am thinking of and praying for all of his family and friends! Roll Tide!

Dr. Smith was the dad of my best friend. He was strict but fair. My most outstanding memory was when he took Brett and I to opp in his camaro, about the time of star wars release, and took us to "light speed"!
Crazy fast, as far as an 11 or 12 year old was concerned.
I will remember, and miss him. I'll pray for Sandy and Brett and the rest of the family. GOD BLESS!

Charles was a special man and a dear friend. He was a giver, a jokester and lover of life. I have such fond memories of my times with he, Sandy and my husband Mac …back in the day. He was also our dentist and when I moved to Birmingham, he even called my new dentist to make sure he knew I was a special friend. The world was blessed by having Charles Smith in it. Judy Irving

I was lucky to have worked for “Dr. Charlie” as a dental assistant from1974-76. That good man impacted my young adult life in incalculable ways. He was a good boss - never heard him raise his voice or be mean to anyone in two years. He was a supremely competent dentist - Charlie could do it all and do all of it well - I learned so much. He was magically great with kids we treated - told his little fishing story and they’d watch and listen to him, spellbound, and mostly not be afraid about being at the dentist. He was like a surrogate father to me, when I needed one more than I realized, at age 19-20. Charles Smith encouraged and helped me find a way to go to college when I was on my own trying to figure out how to. I realized as the decades passed that he continued, throughout his long life, to help other young people go to college, too. I wonder how many of us owe him for having been able to elevate our lives because of him. Charlie had a great sense of humor and was quite a prankster. He could take it when he was pranked back, too, with that smile and a twinkle in his eye. Oh, just look at the photo his family shared here and tell me you don’t see the kindness in those eyes. I know I do.
My sincere sympathy goes to Sandy and Charlie’s boys and all of his family and many friends. What a good human being he was. May your sadness someday give way to laughter in remembering this man’s joyful life.

I remember when Dr. Charles came to Ozark and opened his dental practice. He has been a friend over the years always ready with a sharp comment to get a rise out of you, then laugh with you. He was a dedicated member of our Ozark First United Methodist Church and gave great council to our leadership. We will miss his wit and presents in our mists. We know his soul is resting with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is reunited with all that have gone before him. We thank God for the life of Dr. Charles Edwin Smith.
