Obituary of William Michael Maund

Mr. William Michael "Mike" Maund, a resident of Dothan, passed away Sunday morning July 30, 2023 following a long illness at his home with his family by his side. He was 64 years old. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 3, 2023, from Chalkhead Baptist Church with Reverend Michael Woodham officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in the church Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until service time. Serving as pallbearers will be Ben Maund, Travis Michael Maund, Garrett Maund, Troy Maund, Burt Maund, Preston Maund, Kelley Strickland and Ben Enfinger. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Carroll High School Class of 1977. Mr. Maund was born January 13, 1959 in Ozark, Alabama to the late Robert Elvin Maund and Nellie Frances Elliott Maund. He was a 1977 graduate of Carroll High School in Ozark. Mr. Maund joined the United States Navy where he served as a submariner. Following his military service, he worked as a salesman with Rudd Furniture, Chandler Furniture and Jim Skinner Honda. Mike received many awards as a top salesman wherever he was employed. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid Alabama fan. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette “Jan” Eldridge Maund of Dothan; one son, Travis Michael Maund of Dothan; one daughter, Allison Smead (Robby) of Louisville, Kentucky; one granddaughter, Marlie Smead; one brother, Steve Maund (Sue) of Ozark; one sister, Matha Maund of Ozark; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Tice (Robert) of Dothan, Linda Hudllund and Margaret Eldridge of Geneva; brother-in-law, Robert Eldridge (Pam) of Enterprise; and our very loved pet-baby, Gizmo. Many very special nieces and nephews also survive. Because of his love for children, flowers will be omitted, memorials made in his memory to Chalkhead Baptist Church Playground, 495 County Road 35, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
