Obituary of Carl Andrews

Mr. Carl Andrews, a resident of Ozark, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023. He was 71 years old. Funeral services for Mr. Andrews will be 4:00 P. M. Tuesday, November 28, 2023, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Greg Aman officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Tuesday from 2:30 P.M. until service time. Mr. Andrews was born January 28, 1952, in Ozark, Alabama to the late Jessie Milton Andrews and Mary Helen Andrews. He was a 1970 graduate of Carroll High School and married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Carter, after graduation. That year they moved to Decatur, Alabama, where he worked in the hotel business. They moved back to Ozark in 1971 and he worked as a mechanic with Bondy’s Ford. Later he started Carl’s Automotive in Ozark. He worked as a Maintenance Technician with Sony for twenty years until the plant closed. While working at Sony he served in the Alabama National Guard from 1982 until 1986. He then attended Wallace Community College where he became proficient in small engine repair and opened Carl’s Outdoor Equipment Repair. Carl loved fishing, being outside and his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Carolyn Sanders. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Barbara Carter Andrews of Ozark; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cristi Parker (Alan) of Ozark and Karen Aman (Chad) of Newton; grandchildren, David and Stella Parker, Ethan and Chloe Aman; one sister, Claire Andrews; one brother, Mark Andrews; sister-in-law, Sandra Layton (Dan); brothers-in-law, Kevin Carter (Charlotte), John Carter and Keith Carter (Janie); a special cousin, John Douglas. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to express a special thanks to DaySpring Hospice and the Dale County Sheriff Department.
