My memories of Ben go back to my days at the beach when Ben and all the Dothan crew gathered at the Bailey house. He was always supportive of me through the years and I always enjoyed our interactions. His exemplary service as our Circuit Judge was noted state wide. We know his soul is resting with our Heavenly Father, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We thank God for the life of Judge Philip Ben McLaughlin, Jr.

Dearest Bobbie and family, please know that this is truly a shared loss for as a fellow judge, I can assure you that there are many officials within the Unified Judicial System who loved and revered Ben. We will miss him terribly. His contributions to the court system have had everlasting impact. ….I am SO disappointed that I can not attend his service as I have a staff attorney who is getting married in north AL at the same moment as Ben’s service. We had the honor of being a seat mate with the Judge for 20 plus years at the Alabama football games. We had wonderful memories of discussing Alabama football with him and his memories of Coach Bryant. Sure missed seeing him in the last few years. A great man and a great jurist. My deepest condolences to the entire McLaughlin family,friends and loved ones. It was such a pleasure and truly an honor to have been blessed to become not just an employee,but also like a close family member. The judge was an amazing man. He showed strength in his weakest moments and boy did he have me laughing many days. I'll miss him greatly. I will always carry respect for him in my heart. Sincerely, with much love Thelma.
