James would always acknowledge me even when driving past the One Stop Truck Shop… He would holler, Hey Gallaspie and I would blow horn. I will miss him as my brother in Christ and good friend.

I met James while he was going through his treatment. Through it all, he still managed to have a positive attitude and outlook. Every day he found reasons to smile - and that smile was always contagious! I always loved to hear the stories he shared. I am so thankful to have met him. Sending so much love to Karen and the rest of the family. You guys will be in my heart.

James came to me and my wife later in life. We had the pleasure of meeting James through our neighbor. He will always have a place in our hearts. James was very knowledgeable about everything he not only came to our home with Dallas and redid our lawn They also built our retaining wall and he took such pride in the wall that he brought his wife and a friend of theirs by to see it. By then we had already met Karen several times for James loved his hot rods and one day him and Karen showed up to show us this spectacular car/truck.
James was a great story teller and we loved to hear how his dad taught him everything he knows.
Tracy and I are very blessed to have had the pleasure to have met James and Karen. We are sending our prayers as well as our love. Please remember the good times and the way James could brighten up the room and make everyone laugh or smile with his witty cracks.

I knew James for many years, we went to school together and were in the Carroll High School Class of 1976, we went to church together for many, many years. He was a great friend. I saw him a couple of months ago at the Courthouse and it was like we hadn't missed any time and took off where we left off many years ago. He will be missed terribly by all who knew him. We will keep his wife, his Mom Faye and all his brothers and sisters in our thoughts and prayers for peace and comfort in the coming days and weeks ahead. Fly high James and ride the streets of glory and save us all a place until it is our time to join you and all of our loved ones. Until we meet again my friend.

What great memories I have of James over the years. He was a very hard worker looking for an old home project he could make into someone's nice home. I was always calling him to let him know about a house I knew of and see if he was interested. James was a friend to me and Judy and we always enjoyed our visits. We know his soul is resting with our Heavenly Father, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We know all his family will receive their comfort through your faith. We thank God for the life of James Albert Whitman.

We knew James for most of his life and he was one of the kindest, funniest, and “full of love” kinda guys you would ever want to meet! James was also very hard working and smart and could figure out a way to fix most anything with his hands. With all our heart love we send our deepest sympathies to the Whitman family! Many blessings, the Lewis and Martha Woodham Family (Jon, Jeff and Jenny)

I am thinking of the family and dear friends of James, and I am sending my caring thoughts and prayers your way. My daughter, Emily Ann, has lots of fond memories of spending time with Claudia at the Whitmans growing up. Several years ago I went through a hard time and a tough divorce. During that time James and Karen made sure that my children were able to enjoy the Peanut Festival. I know it might not seem like much to some or even to James or Karen, but it meant so much to us. They were always so very kind to think of them. Rest easy, James. You are forever healed.

My favorite James memory was when the Monster Truck competition came to the Dothan Farm Center. I worked for WKMX and BJ Kelli and I were in a competition for charity. We each had to pick a local monster truck and driver then we raced. The winner got money donated to their charity of choice. The loser got thrown into the mud pit by the winner. I chose James and his big truck because I just knew that guy could get the job done. All I can say is that the mud was deep and cold! Thank you James for a memory that has remained with me for over 30 years. God speed. Much love and many prayers, Joe Whitman. You are loved.
