Obituary of Bobby Ray Marsh

Mr. Bobby Marsh, a resident of Ozark, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 85 years old. Funeral services for Mr. Marsh will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, July 14, 2024, from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Dennis Tew and Reverend Adam Mulliner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in the church Sunday from 1:30 P.M. until service time. Bobby was born on May 18, 1939 in Dale County. He is the son of the late T. R.(Bob) Marsh and Ouida Smith Marsh. Bobby graduated from Carroll High School in Ozark May 1957. He immediately joined the Army and spent most of his Army career in Italy. Following his military service, he obtained his General Radiotelephone Operator License and started his working career as an engineer with WTVY/TV in Dothan. He later went to work for the State of Alabama in the Forestry Department and traveled all over the state climbing the fire towers to repair the radios. He later received two Bachelor of Science Degrees from Troy State University in Business Administration and in Aviation Maintenance Management, at the (then) Ft. Rucker campus. At that time he was working for the maintenance contractors at Ft. Rucker who maintained all the helicopters and his expertise was repair of the radios. He worked with each contractor that followed until his retirement in 2000. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Russell (Mary); three sisters, Jeanette, JoAnn (John) and Shelby; and his brother, Harold. On October 14, 1961 he married Sandra Hicks Marsh, together they have three sons and eight grandchildren; Ray (Tiffany) and children Sean, Gia, Cam and Colson; Rusty (Laura) and children Austin and Savannah; Reggie (Vicky) and children Anna (Zack) Himes, and Justin (Alyssa). The family would like to thank and commend the wonderful service rendered by Community Hospice of Dale Medical Center. A special thank you to Kathy, Catherine, Mark, Jennifer, Stephany and Brother Adam, who came regularly to our home. Also, we couldn’t have made it without our sister-in-law, Jean Marsh, the prayers of our wonderful Pleasant Grove Church family and the many friends who called regularly to offer help in any way. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to Community Hospice of Dale Medical Center, 126 Hospital Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360; or to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1124 County Road 11, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
