Obituary of Kaethe "Kitty" Johnson

Mrs. Kaethe “Kitty” Macher Johnson, 95, a resident of Ozark, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024, in Oakview Manor Nursing Facility. Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 23, 2024, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend David King officiating, Holman Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Kitty, the daughter of the late Friedrich Macher and Grete Macher, was born April 25, 1929 in Lauf/Pegnitz, Germany. She met Samuel C. Johnson while he was serving in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. They married on October 6, 1955. She came to American shortly afterwards and received her citizenship in 1962 in Wilmington, North Carolina. She worked at White Knight Manufacturing and Judy Bond in her earlier days. Kitty was a member of the Eastern Star and a Worthy Matron. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, baking and working with the Relay for Life. She was an avid Bama fan ....ROLL TIDE! She ran several local businesses with her late husband to include Johnson Mobile Home Park, East Gate Food Mart and the Long Branch. In addition to her parents and late husband, Kitty was preceded in death by one daughter, Gloria Faye Stellabotte; and three sisters, Heidemarie Macher, Lotte Swan and Else Lenz. Kitty is survived by one daughter, Kay (Ken) Cobb of Ozark; her dog/partner in crime, Aspen; grandchildren, April (Brent) Merrell of Ozark, Andrea (Scott) Lipinsky of Madisonville, Kentucky, Ashley (Don) Bozeman of Freeport, Florida, Jessica Hammock of Live Oak, Florida, and Allen Stellabotte of Live Oak, Florida; nine great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, with one on the way; three sisters, Eline Geist, Helene (Hans) Sorgel and Gusti (Bruno) Mueller, all of Germany; numerous nieces and nephews that she dearly loved. The family would like to thank Vitas Hospice and Oakview Manor for the wonderful care provided by their staff. Also, a big thank you to Harbor of Hope for their kindness and compassion to the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dale County Relay for Life, C/O Kay Franklin, 374 South Jackson Avenue, Luverne, Alabama 36049.
