Janice Sue Parker Peters (Jan or Nanner, as she was known by many) was born October 23, 1945 in Gladewater, Gregg County, Texas to George Cullen Parker and Alma Lucille Stafford Parker. She has been a native of Ozark, Alabama since 1946. Janice Sue grew up in Ozark Baptist Church where she gave her life to Jesus at an early age and was one of the first people to be baptized in the new baptistry.
Jan enjoyed a number of occupations in her lifetime including secretary, farmer’s wife, co-owner of Country Foods and Crafts Catering for 35 years, and her favorite – homemaker. She graduated from Carroll High School in 1963 and attended Wallace Community College to earn an Associate’s Degree in Business. This was the prerequisite of her father, George, before she could marry the love of her life, Howard Peters.
Jan and Howard were joined in wedded bliss on June 6, 1965 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. They were happily married for 59 years clinging to one another as God designed marriage to be. God blessed them with two sons, Jim and Jody, and six grandchildren. As the matriarch of her family, she showed love and kindness to all who encountered her. Jan was a Godly example of a daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to all who knew her.
Janice Sue Parker Peters was preceded in death by her parents, George Cullen Parker and Alma Lucille Stafford Parker. She is survived by her husband, Howard Peters of Ozark; son, Jim (Bonita) Peters of Daleville, son, Jody (Lori) Peters of Ozark; brother, George Parker, Jr. (friend Patsy) of Ozark; sister, Joy (Steve) Panjic of Eufaula; grandchildren Tyler, Jamie, Alex, Reid, Trey, and Ashleigh, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She loved us all well, and her desire was for all people to know her Jesus as Saviour and Lord!
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Daleville Baptist Church Building Fund, 100 Donnell Blvd., Daleville, Alabama 36322; Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1124 County Road 11, Ozark, Alabama 36360; or to Ozark Baptist Church Building Fund, 282 South Union Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360.

You have been such a blessing to us in our time of need.
