Joe became a very close friend when Barb and I were first assigned to Fort Rucker as the Deputy Commanding General in 1994. We renewed our friendship when Barb and I returned to Fort Rucker as the Commanding General in 1996. Then after Barb and I retired from the Army, and we decided to live in Ozark. Joe and the wonderful citizens played a major part in our decision to move to Ozark. Joe impressed me from the very first day I met him at Fort Rucker in 1994. He was everything a competent news reporter should be. I am proud to say I was a friend of Joe's for 30 years. May he rest in peace.

I feel like a part of Ozark's history has passed with Joe Adams Sr. I would always read his column "Scribblings" to find out what was happening in Ozark. My condolences to Philip and Elizabeth.

I'm so grateful for the opportunities Mr. Adams gave us as young reporters at Carroll High School to paginate and see what news careers really felt like. I thank God for his passion for Ozark, and pray your family's comfort in knowing he truly changed lives.

Joe and Dot were always the best to me and my family. As a young boy growing up across the street in a small town like Ozark was a real blessing. Phillip and Sara you and all your family are in our prayers. Joe had a big impact in Ozark and across Alabama sharing the news as it really was. Thanks you Joe for all your service in so many ways and of course”Roll Tide Roll”.

Such a fine good man who is loved by everyone associated with Ozark. A remarkable man, and Ozark legend.
Sending my heartfelt love to the family.
