Obituary of Louis Allen Mullins

Mr. Louis Allen Mullins, a resident of Newton, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Westside Terrace in Dothan with his daughters by his side. He was 93 years young. Funeral services for Mr. Mullins will be graveside 2:30 P.M. Friday, October 4, 2024, in Newton City Cemetery with Pastor Sam Williams officiating. Interment will follow with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends following the graveside service. Mr. Mullins was born June 18, 1931 in the Five Points Community near Newton to the late Earl Cue Mullins and Lila McMichael Mullins. Louis graduated from Newton High School and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked with his brother Murloy at the milling company in Headland and was part owner of the milling company in Pinckard. He then went on to build his own milling company in Ozark, Mullins Milling Company. He managed the U-Haul Center in Dothan for many years and was the manager of Spanish Acres until his retirement. Louis never met a stranger and was a friend to all. He was a hard worker and never sat still. He was an active member of Newton High School Alumni Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, James Allen Mullins; his dear grandson, Charles E. Hinderliter, Jr.; one sister, Jeanett Mullins Johnston; two brothers, Earl Mullins and Murloy Mullins; two brothers-in-law, Ralph Johnson and Edward L. “Ed” Robbins; and one sister-in-law, Doris Head Mullins. He leaves behind two daughters, Linda Mullins Rhodes (Paul) and Susan Mullins Horne (Robert); three grandchildren, Amber Stefanson (Chris) of Wisconsin, Brooke Mullins (Bobby Chandler) of Dothan and Ryan Mullins of Dothan; great-grandchildren, Jade, Ava and Noah Stefanson all of Wisconsin, Kayla McGowan of Newton and Elijah Mullins of Dothan, Tracey and Landon McCord of Wyoming; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind one special loving sister whom he loved dearly, Chrystene Robbins, of Montgomery. The family would like to thank DaySpring Hospice for their loving care. Also, the family would like to thank all the employees of Westside Terrace in Dothan for their professional, affectionate and loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to Newton United Methodist Church, 233 King Street, Newton, Alabama 36352.
