Obituary of Sarah Nell Murphy Sullivan

Mrs. Sarah Nell Murphy Sullivan, a resident of Ozark, passed away October 6, 2024. She was 91 years old. Funeral services for Mrs. Sullivan will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 10, 2024, from Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Ozark with Reverend Michael Lawler officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Thursday in the church from 12:30 P.M. until service time. Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Sullivan, Wyatt Watford, Matt Watford, Spencer Sullivan, Tyler Brown, Chase Brown and Thomas Helms. Mrs. Sullivan was born February 1, 1933 in Geneva County to the late Malcolm Irvin Murphy and Nellie Mae Pritchett Murphy. She was known to family and friends as “Nanny”. She was a devout Christian attending Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church throughout her life. Mrs. Sullivan was dedicated to her family, and her home was the place where they all gathered for holidays and for Sunday lunch. Sarah worked for Civil Service for 25+ years. Then volunteered as a Pink Lady at Dale Medical Center for many years. She enjoyed, collecting antiques, many crafts including sewing, quilting, painting, cooking for family and friends and getting together with her Aggravation buddies. She was well respected in the community and loved by many. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering love will forever be remembered by all who knew her. Sarah was preceded in death by Eugene Sullivan, her husband of 75 years. Son Eugene ‘Jr’ Sullivan; parents, Malcom Irvin and Nellie Mae Murphy, Dixie and Lillie Mae Sullivan; son-in-law, Sam Brown; sister, Jean Brunty; sister-in-law, Martha Kilpatrick; brothers-in-law, Woodrow W. Sullivan, Joe Brunty, Don Wilson and Ted Kilpatrick. She is survived by her children, Frank Sullivan (Lynn), Timmy Sullivan (Candy), Tammy Brown and Terry Sullivan; her sister, Joann Wilson; ten grandchildren, Nikki Watford (Matt), Adam Sullivan (Erin), Celia Lawler (Jason), Patti Andrews (Brad), Will Sullivan, Spencer Sullivan (Chelsea), Anna Tucker (Colby), Chase Brown (Stephanie), Sarah Helms (Kevin), Tyler Brown (Paige); and seventeen great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to thank her long-time care giver Linda Knotts, Community Hospice and other sitters for the love and care she was given.
