Obituary of Evelyn Fay Avrett
Mrs. Evelyn Fay Bunton Avrett, a resident of Ozark, died Friday, November 29, 2024, at her home with her family by her side. She was 90 years old.
Funeral services for Mrs. Avrett will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 3, 2024, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Chad Manion officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Tuesday from 12:30 P.M. until service time. Flowers will be accepted.
Mrs. Avrett was born August 9, 1934 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late James Ralph Bunton and Pearly Jewel Watts Bunton. Following high school graduation, she moved to San Bernadino, California and started her family. Fay moved back to Birmingham where she met and married Ray Frank Avrett. They moved to Ozark in 1970 and started Whites Auto where she worked as co-owner. After they sold the business she worked with Judy Bond Manufacturing, Roses Department Store and Bakers Fabrics Store. Following her retirement, they enjoyed traveling for thirteen years. They loved to ride their Goldwing Motorcycle and were members of the Goldwing Road Riders Association. They were “work campers” – working and traveling. Fay loved to crochet, read and cook for her family. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church for forty-five years. Fay loved her fur-baby, “Boy Dog”. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Eddie Buckinger; two sisters, Helen Leavell and Naomi McIntyre; and two brothers, James Bunton and Ed Bunton.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Ray Frank Avrett Sr. of Ozark; three sons, Mark Buckinger (Belinda) of Ozark, Chuck Buckinger (Cindy) of Lexington, North Carolina, and Frank Avrett (Lynn) of Woodstock, Georgia; one daughter, Julie Jones (Dale) of Ozark; fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
