Ms. Betty Jo Overturf Tatum, 76, of Ozark, died Tuesday, November 15, 2016, in Dale Medical Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Monday, November 21, 2016, in Ozark Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Eric Fuller and Mr. Jonathan Brown officiating, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at Ozark Baptist Church Monday from 12:30 P. M. until service time.
Ms. Tatum was born March 3, 1940 in Biscoe, Arkansas to the late James Oscar Overturf and Syrnia Bell McAfee Overturf. A 1958 graduate of Des Arc High School in Des Arc, Arkansas, Ms. Tatum spent much of her adult life living in Arkansas, Pennsylvania and Alabama. In 1979 Betty moved to Ozark and began a twenty-year career working in a variety of positions with Wal Mart, Inc., retiring in 2005 as an Administrative Assistant to the District Manager. In her retirement years, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She was a member of Ozark Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Phoebe and Robert Coaker of Ozark; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Lance Tatum of Montgomery, Shane and Jessica Tatum of Troy; three grandsons, Strauss Outlaw, Thad Tatum, and Bryce Tatum; four granddaughters, Abigail Coaker, Zoe Tatum, Ella Tatum, and Anne Marie Wilson; one great grandson, Briggs Wilson; one sister, Inas Dickson of Biscoe, Arkansas; one brother and sister-in-law, Glenn “Bud” and Shirley Overturf of Des Arc, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Community Hospice of Dale Medical Center, 126 Hospital Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
