Mrs. Dorothy Grace Grantham Woodham Monk, age 94, of Echo, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016, at her residence surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Tuesday, June 21, 2016, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Charles Goldsmith officiating. Interment will follow in Echo Methodist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Tuesday from 12:30 P. M. until service time. Born November 26, 1921 to the late George and Jimmie Grantham, she was the oldest of eight children. She was a member of Echo United Methodist Church. After retiring Dot, as most people knew her, enjoyed being a grandmother, her flowers, and her many hobbies. She joined the Echo Homemaker Club, The Bethel Methodist Church Quilting Club, and the Newton Senior Citizen Center. She won several ribbons for her quilting and needlework at Claybank quilt shows and at Homemakers district meetings. In addition to her quilting and needlework, she learned to paint beautiful art work and basket weaving. She also traveled with her brothers, sisters and her senior friends at the Newton Senior Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Herbert Woodham and Joe Monk; three brothers, Gerald Grantham, Jimmy Grantham, and Jerome Grantham; two sisters, Fannie Judah and Georgia Sanko; and one step-son, Charles Monk. Survivors include one son, Edward (Elaine) Woodham; two daughters, Vivian (Ray) Preston and Sue (David) Fisher; step-son, Danny Monk; two step-daughters, Charlotte Phillips and Judy Lovingood; grandchildren, Melissa (Russell) Turner, Jeff (Andrea) Preston, Stephanie (John Mike) McCall, Jennifer Woodham, Joshua (Anna) Fisher and Ethan (Keisha) Fisher; several step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Ryan Turner, Kaitlin Turner, Jarrod Preston, Joel Preston, John Keith McCall, Justin McCall, Hadleigh Fisher, and Khloe Fisher (arriving in October); and several step-great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ledbetter; one brother, Kenneth Grantham; brother-in-law, Herman Judah; sister-in-law, Ann Grantham. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Gideons International, Dale County Camp, P. O. Box 291, Ozark, Alabama 36361. The family would like to thank special caregivers, Mrs. Ree (Marie), Bridgett, and Rosa. Also thank you to the Gentiva Hospice nurses and aides that helped care for her during the last few months.
