Obituary of Betty H. Whitman

Mrs. Betty Ann Hutchison Whitman, age 87, of Ozark, died Sunday, January 6, 2008, in Ozark Health and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. A memorial service for Mrs. Whitman will be 10:00 A. M. Friday, January 11, 2008, from Ozark Presbyterian Church with Reverend Randall Yelverton officiating. The family will receive friends in the Church following the service. Interment for Mrs. Whitman will be in Elkins, West Virginia, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark will be handling local arrangements. Mrs. Whitman was born in Hinton, West Virginia to Verna Day Hutchison and William E. Hutchison. She was retired from the Westinghouse Corporation in Maryland where she previously resided. She was a member of the Ozark Presbyterian Church, and was active for many years in Fort Severn Chapter of The Daughters of the American Revolution and The United Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Whitman was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Michael Hutchison Whitman, one sister, Zuleka Sue Hutchison, and two brothers, William Day Hutchison and John Fletcher Hutchison. Survivors include her husband, J. Robert Whitman of Ozark; two sons and one daughter-in-law, James and Cheryle Whitman of Ozark, William Grady Whitman of Portsmouth, Virginia; one sister, Evelyn H. Keller of Ravenswood, West Virginia. Five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces also survive. Flowers will be omitted and memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
