Obituary of Mary Agerton Thompson

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Agerton Thompson, 85, of Ozark, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017, in Noland Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 15, 2017, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Ms. Jamie Logan Mathews officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Friday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P. M. Mrs. Thompson was born January 30, 1932 in Dale County, Alabama to the late Roscoe Agerton and Lizzie Jane Hughes Agerton. She worked with Van Heusen Manufacturing Company in Ozark for fourteen years and with Ozark Nursing Home for sixteen years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister; her greatest joy was spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister-in-law, Delton Agerton and Ted and Marie Agerton; one son-in-law, Phillip Morse; and one great-great grandchild, Mary Parker Logan. Survivors include one daughter, Jewell Simmons Morse of Ozark; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Sandra Simmons of Ozark; one sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Don Ezell of Dothan; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Ann Agerton of Atlanta; five grandchildren, Felecia and Paul Blackmon, Phyllis and Eddie Logan, Terri and Eric Strickland, Starla Ray, and Elisha Senn. Thirteen great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
