Mrs. Gwendolyn Walden Hand, age 74, of Ozark, died Friday morning, June 5, 2009, in Dale Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Sunday, June 7, 2009, from Westview Heights United Methodist Church with Reverend Russell Burleson and Reverend John D. Reese III officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the Church Sunday from 12:30 P. M. until service time. Mrs. Hand was born July 6, 1934 in Headland, Alabama; the loving daughter of the late Arthur David and Kathryn Carroll Walden. She was a charter member of Westview Heights United Methodist Church in Ozark where she taught Sunday School and Methodist Youth Fellowship. She also worked for many years at the Best Western of Ozark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Arthur David Hand. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Walter Albert Hand, Sr. of Ozark; two daughters, Kathryn A. Hand of Skipperville, and Deborah A. Hand of Headland; one son and daughter-in-law, Walter A. Hand, Jr. and Ramona Hand of Ozark; two granddaughters, Heather Hand Martin and husband, Bo Martin, Brittany Hand Mathews and husband, Richard Mathews; four great grandchildren, Lawson Tuff Hand, Taylor Leigh Martin, Hallie Alyssia Martin, and Ramona Maria "Romey" Mathews. Two specials friends, Mary Carroll Dominey and Peggy Gary also survive. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Westview Heights United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 1045, Ozark, Alabama 36361.
