Obituary of Barbara Louise Raymond

On Friday, May 6, 2011, Barbara Louise Raymond died at her home in Ozark, Alabama after a long illness. She was 90 years old. She was the widow of MG Daniel A. Raymond. They were married for 68 years before his death in 2010.
Services will be held at the Old Chapel, Ft. Myer, VA followed by burial in Arlington National Cemetery next to her beloved husband. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to The First United Methodist Church of Ozark, 167 East Broad Street, Ozark, Alabama 36360; or to The Alzheimer's Research Center, P. O. Box 1170, Dothan, Alabama 36302. Holman Funeral Home of Ozark will be in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs. Raymond was born October 10, 1917, in Binghamton, New York, the daughter of the late Floyd Clark Fish and Elsie Hutchings Fish. She was a generous, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who never met a stranger. She will be missed by all those who knew her.
In her role as an army wife she accompanied her husband to stations in Turkey, Okinawa and many posts in the United States. In all they moved thirty three times during their military career. During General Raymond's service in World War II, Korea and Viet Nam, she carried out the loving roles of mother and father to their three children. She worked for IBM during World War II, was a gray lady for the Red Cross, served as a Girl Scout Board Member and was a Million Dollar Real Estate Saleswoman in the Washington, DC area, while always supporting her husband in his military endeavors. General Raymond always gave his lady credit for his success. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ozark.
She is survived by her loving children: Barbara R. McLauchlin (Ben) of Ozark, Alabama; LTC (Retired) Daniel A. Raymond (Marianne) of Hampton, Virginia; LTC (Retired) Douglas C. Raymond (Mary Anne) of Clemson, South Carolina;
nine grandchildren: Barbara McLauchlin Neal, Sandra McLauchlin Kibler, Clementine McLauchlin Johnson, Philip Ben McLauchlin III, Daniel Arthur Raymond III, Renie Raymond Rathke, Robert Douglas Raymond, John Daniel Raymond, Carrie Beth Baker;
and 14 great-grandchildren.
