Obituary of Sarah Barefield Jones

Mrs. Sarah Barefield Jones of the Bertha Community died Thursday evening, March 4, 2010, at her home following a brave battle with cancer. She was 63. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Sunday, March 7, 2010, from New Hope Baptist Church in the Bertha Community with Reverend Shane Traylor and Reverend Dan Sheppard officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Mrs. Jones's body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time on Sunday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Saturday. Mrs. Jones was born June 11, 1946 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late W. Woodrow and Margaret Bohanan Barefield of Bertha. Sarah lived in the Atlanta, Georgia area for more than 30 years where she was a flight attendant with Eastern Airlines for 19 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Jack E. Jones. Survivors include six brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Kathy Barefield of Skipperville, Cliff and Carol Barefield of Ozark, Mike and Linda Barefield of Ozark, Julian and Bonnie Barefield of Skipperville, Rick and Elan Barefield of Tuscaloosa, and Robert and Susan Barefield of Dothan. Although Sarah had no children, she was blessed with many nieces and nephews who she loved and cared for as her children. They are Lora (Barefield) and Terry Bowman; Dan, Ronette, Erin, and Ethan Barefield; Julie (Barefield), John, Libby, and Cullis Kelly; John, Brittney, and Emma Rose Barefield; Matt, Cha, and Kaya Barefield; Chris and Natalie Barefield; Eric, Rachel, and Holden Barefield; Jared Barefield, and Talia Barefield. Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Barefield, John Barefield, John Kelly, Chris Barefield, Eric Barefield, Jared Barefield, Tim Galloway, and Orin Galloway.
