Obituary of John Roysce Howell

Mr. John Roysce Howell, Sr., age 61, of Ariton, died Saturday, January 11, 2014, in Dale Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Wednesday, January 15, 2014, from Ozark Presbyterian Church with Pastor Frank Ellis, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Mr. Howell was born September 21, 1952 in Ozark, Alabama to the late Walter Frank Howell and Thelma Gertrude Cordray Howell. He graduated from Carroll High School in 1970, and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving just short of ten years. He was a commercial and residential painter for twelve years. Mr. Howell was an avid tennis and softball player, an Alabama football fan, and loved fishing at Old Creek Town at Lake Eufaula. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Howell; and his twin brother, Joe Howell. Survivors include his wife, Enelle Chauvin Howell of Ariton; two sons, Matthew Lee Howell and John R. Howell, Jr.; one sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Bill Aplin of Blue Ridge, GA; one brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Gail Howell of Clifton, VA; two grandchildren, Kristina Howell and Abigail Howell. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ozark Presbyterian Church, 187 South East Street, Ozark, AL 36360; or to Westview Memorial Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 484, Ozark, AL 36361.
