Obituary of Charles Kenneth Walker

Mr. Charles Kenneth Walker, age 75, passed away on Friday morning, November 15, 2013, at his home in Ozark. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A. M., Monday, November 18, 2013, at Ozark Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Steve King officiating and eulogy by Mr. Larry Hicks. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. on Sunday afternoon.
Mr. Walker was born February 24, 1938, in Blue Springs, Alabama, to the late Otis and Claudia Mae Walker. He attended Troy State University and served a tour of duty in the U. S. Army. He retired as Senior Vice President of the Bank of Ozark and SouthTrust Bank following 35 years of service, with 34 years as Manager of the Daleville Branch. He was a member of the Ozark Baptist Church and a former member of the Daleville Chamber of Commerce and the Daleville Lions Club, where he served for several years as treasurer and as president. In recognition of his dedicated humanitarian services, he was named a Melvin Jones Fellow by the Lions Club International Foundation. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Onyx Shipes Turner.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Janet Shipes Walker of Ozark; a son, Chuck (Mandi) Walker of Ozark; a daughter, Jennifer (Jamie) Elliott of Dothan; four grandsons, James and Walker Elliott and Nathan and Brody Walker; a brother-in-law, Andy (Wanda) Shipes of Clio; an uncle, Virgil Walker of Dothan; an aunt, Tommie Reeder of Abbeville; and two nephews and several beloved cousins.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Ozark Baptist Church Family Life Center, 282 South Union Avenue, Ozark, AL 36360, or to the charity of your choice.
