Mr. Thomas Edward Jacobs, age 72, of Ariton, died Saturday, February 5, 2011, at his home following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at Ariton Baptist Church with Reverend David Walsh and Reverend Dr. Tommy Jacobs officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Olive Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Monday evening. Mr. Jacobs was born August 5, 1938 in Dale County to the late Elie Metcalf Jacobs and the late Walter Lee Jacobs. He worked at Ft. Rucker until 1971, when he opened Jacobs Hardware and Service Station in Ariton, which he operated until his retirement in 2007. He was a founding Member of the Ariton Fire and Rescue Squad. Mr. Jacobs was a member and Deacon of The Ariton Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Nell Brooks. Survivors include his wife, Helen Garner Jacobs of Ariton, one daughter: Jeannie Jacobs of St. Simons Island, Georgia Son And Daughter-in-law, Jim And Delores Jacobs of Ozark One grandson, Hanson Jacobs one sister: Mae Hornsby of Ozark In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Ariton Fire and Rescue Squad, P.
