Mr. Daniel "D. W." Dansby, age 71, of Ariton, died Thursday, March 8, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Sunday, March 11, 2012, from Ariton Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Cannon, Chaplain Jody Hadden, and Reverend David Walsh officiating. Interment will follow in Ariton Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Saturday at the funeral home from 3:00 P. M. until 5:00 P. M. Mr. Dansby was born May 21, 1940 in Barbour County to the late George Washington Dansby and Minnie Virginia Senn Dansby. He was a member and Deacon of Ariton Baptist Church. Mr. Dansby served four years in the United States Navy and also ten years in the United States Army National Guard. He worked for forty years with various aircraft maintenance contractors at Fort Rucker as an Aircraft Trouble Shooter. Mr. Dansby had served several terms on the Ariton City Council, was a member of Ariton Masonic Lodge #171, and Ariton Fire and Rescue Squad. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Thad Dansby in 1980. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Cherry Dansby of Ariton; one daughter and son-in-law, Jodi and Jason Searcy of Enterprise; three grandchildren, Jackson Thad Searcy, Jon Cole Searcy, Jase Dansby Searcy; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Reverend William Cannon of Ozark, Evelyn and Joe Burke of Dothan; one brother, Earl Dansby of Montgomery; one sister-in-law, Betty Scyphers of Ariton, special nieces and nephews, Doug, Cindy, John, and Hollis Cherry, Misty Kinneer, Sonny, Diana, Steven, Sharon Scyphers, Faye Swinehart, Kathy Wambles, and Jimmy Cherry; also several other nieces and nephews; special care givers, Evon, Fran, and AlaCare Hospice.
