Obituary of Mavis Monk Grantham

Mrs. Mavis Monk Grantham, age 90, of Ozark, died Friday evening, June 6, 2014, at her home surrounded by family and friends. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Monday, June 9, 2014, from Ozark Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Steve King and Reverend Jonathan Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 3:00 P. M. until 5:00 P. M.
Mrs. Grantham was born February 2, 1924 in Dale County to the late Marion Nathaniel Monk and Avie Gardner Monk. She graduated from Dale County High School in 1942 and worked for Wiregrass Production Credit Association for 37 years. Mrs. Grantham was a member of and loved Ozark Baptist Church for 56 years. She enjoyed traveling and had traveled to all 50 states and to Canada. She enjoyed watching all sports on television, especially football and tennis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clint Grantham; one sister, Jewel Monk Ford of Newport News, VA; and one brother, Jack Monk of Ozark.
Survivors include one daughter, Beth Grantham of Ozark;
one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Tammie Grantham of Ozark;
granddaughter, Megan Grantham of Mobile;
step-grandsons, Conner and Blake Hicks of Ozark;
one niece, Susie Monk Tyler; and one sister-in-law, Ramona Monk.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ozark Baptist Church, 282 South Union Avenue, Ozark, AL 36360; or to Gentiva Hospice, 2740 Headland Avenue, Dothan, AL 36303.
