Obituary of Hazel Monk Sewell

Mrs. Hazel Rae Monk Sewell, 86, formerly of Ozark, died Thursday, November 27, 2014, in Foley, Alabama.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Saturday, November 29, 2014, from Logan Road Baptist Church with Reverend Charles Goldsmith officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Saturday at the church from 12:30 P. M. until service time.
Mrs. Sewell was born July 29, 1928 in Barbour County near Skipperville to the late Henry Allen Monk and Eva Key Monk. She graduated from Blue Springs School, then lived in Napier Field and moved to Ozark in 1965. She worked with V. J. Elmore’s in Ozark, with Adams Mill, and then was a full time homemaker. Mrs. Sewell was a member of The Eastern Star, and a Charter Member of Logan Road Baptist Church. She was a dedicated mother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Pugh Sewell; and her daughter, Sara Thomas.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Karen Sewell of Cropwell, AL; her son-in-law, Dennis Thomas of Gulf Shores; grandchildren, Cindy Burns, David Wilson Sewell, Kimberly Rebecca Sonanstine, Elaine Thomas, and Erik Thomas. Four great grandchildren also survive.
