Obituary of Bessie Hughes Strickland

Mrs. Bessie Hughes Strickland, age 85, of Ozark, died Friday morning, November 6, 2009, in Ozark Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Sunday, November 8, 2009, from Asbury United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Rick Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Mrs. Strickland's body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time on Sunday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 P. M. until 5:00 P. M. Saturday afternoon.
Mrs. Strickland was born January 5, 1924 to the late Harley and Quilla Lisenby Hughes. She attended school at Asbury and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Mrs. Strickland was a homemaker, a wonderful cook, and a loving wife, mother, and granny.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, J. D. Strickland of Ozark;
two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Gloria Strickland, and Lanier and Paula Strickland all of the Asbury Community;
one brother, Clifton and Nema Hughes of Ozark.
three grandchildren, Dedra Rowell, Erin Strickland, and Brad Strickland.
Two great grandchildren also survive.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2536 County Road 33, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
