Obituary of George Milton Medley

Mr. George M. Medley, 72, of Ozark died early Sunday morning, September 19, 2010 in Flowers Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 A. M. Wednesday, September 22, 2010, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Wason Carroll and Reverend Dr. Jason Thrower officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Full Military Honors, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Tuesday evening. Mr. Medley was born April 23, 1938 in Barbour County to the late Dennis Lindsey and Annie Mae Richards. He served in the United States Navy and retired from the Alabama National Guard following 27 years of service. Mr. Medley took great pride in volunteering for many years with Operation Santa Clause through the Ozark Fire Department. He was a great husband, father, and Paw Paw to his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Sarah Deann Medley of Ozark; two daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Scott Wright of Alexander City, Alabama, Dawn and Peter Nelsen of Cameron, North Carolina; one son and daughter-in-law, George D. and Sherry Medley of Whitehouse, Tennessee; three sisters, Nina Housand and Mattie Lee Faulk of Columbus, Georgia, Irene Kuhn of Mobile; two brothers, John Medley and Jimmy Medley of Columbus, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Tyler Medley, Sawyer Nelsen, Rutger Nelsen, Jessy Dorris, Jamie Dorris, Tatyana Nelsen, and Morgyn Wright.
