Obituary of Sylvia Middlebrooks Segars

Mrs. Sylvia Rae Middlebrooks Segars, age 74, of Ozark, died Tuesday morning, November 15, 2011, following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Thursday, November 17, 2011, from Salem Baptist Church with Reverend Harold Peters officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Her grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M.
Mrs. Segars was born January 17, 1937 in the Elamville Community of Barbour County to the late John Neal and Mary Elizabeth Phillips Middlebrooks. She lived in various places with her husband while he served in the United States Air Force. After his retirement, they made their home in Ozark. She worked as a bookkeeper, office manager, and comptroller at Ozark Health and Rehabilitation Center (Ozark Nursing Home) for twenty-three years until her retirement. Mrs. Segars was a loving, giving, tireless mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was the heart of her family and will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Monroe Segars; four grandchildren, Michael Murray, (triplets) Peter, Paul, and Kathrine Murray; and her brothers and sisters, (twins) Bert Middlebrooks and Bertie Jenkins, Ester Danford, Alpha Belle Baker, Agnes Gayoso, Judy Kothe, Robert Middlebrooks, and Myrtle Mercer.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Charles Murray, Susan and Ron Woods all of Ozark;
grandchildren, Stephen Murray, Melanie Murray Alexander, Erin Murray, Ronny Woods, and Randi Woods Cash;
great grandchildren, Bryant Andrew Murray and Emma Grace Wisham;
one brother and sister-in-law, Dr. James and Anne Middlebrooks of Brundidge;
and one special niece, Linda Meadows of Troy.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Mr. Don Johnson, P.O. Box 196, Skipperville, Alabama 36374.
