Dr. Joseph Godwin, age 88, of Ozark, died Thursday morning, February 19, 2009. Funeral services will be private, as Dr. Godwin requested, with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Dr. Godwin, formerly of Mars Hill, North Carolina, had retired in 1985, following a career as a psychologist, professor of psychology, and minister, spending his life helping others. He was also a retired United States Marine officer, serving in the Pacific during World War II. Dr. Godwin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lucille, his son, Joe, married to Kathleen, grandson Lee, married to Johanna, and many others whose lives he has touched through the years. All who knew him will miss him. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, Attention Tribute Department, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
