Mr. Donnie Gene "Don" Childree, age 61, of Clayhatchee, died early Sunday morning, August 22, 2010, at his home following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 3:00 P. M. Tuesday, August 24, 2010, in Midland City Cemetery with Covenant Hospice Chaplain officiating. Interment will follow with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Monday evening.
Mr. Childree was born September 15, 1948 in Houston County to the late Charlie Rayford Childree and Mattie Irene Tillery Childree. He worked as a farm equipment mechanic.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Glover Childree of Clayhatchee;
seven daughters and two sons-in-law, Christine Childree of Clayhatchee, Mary Alice Childree of Andalusia, Paula and Steven Sherling, Teresa Childree, Samantha Childree, Jennifer Childree, and Melinda Childree Galloway and husband, Cody of Clayhatchee;
three sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie Gene, Jr. and Ann Childree, Danny Childree all of Clayhatchee, and Jessie C. and Leah Childree of Dothan;
one sister, Betty Holland of Rehobeth;
two half sisters, Barbara Bowman and Kathy and Rusty Bell both of Dothan;
three brothers and one sister-in-law, Bill Childree of Wicksburg, Raymond and Vicki Childree of Dothan, and Ray Childree of Slocomb;
one half brother, Roger and Carlen Starling of Avon;
twenty-three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
